Name released in Tuesday’s fatal crash

STORDEN — The woman killed in a fatal crash Tuesday on Minnesota 30 has been identified as Vanessa L. Vaj, 37, of Walnut Grove, according to information released by the Minnesota State Patrol.

STORDEN — The woman killed in a fatal crash Tuesday on Minnesota 30 has been identified as Vanessa L. Vaj, 37, of Walnut Grove, according to information released by the Minnesota State Patrol.

A head-on crash took place on the icy highway just east of Storden near mile marker 65, when a 1995 Toyota Corolla, headed west-bound and driven by Vaj, collided with an eastbound 1998 International semi-truck driven by Lonnie Edwards, 51 of Heron Lake. The collision took place in the eastbound lane, the Minnesota State Patrol report states.

Edwards, who was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, had no apparent injuries. Damage to the semi was severe. Minnesota 30 was shut down for approximately four hours after the crash while emergency response personnel and authorities dealt with the crash. The Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Minnesota State Patrol at the scene.

STORDEN — Minnesota 30 was shut down for approximately four hours Tuesday morning after a two-vehicle crash that ended in a fatality at about 8:03 a.m., according to information released by the Minnesota State Patrol.

The head-on accident took place just east of Storden near mile marker 65.

The report states a 1998 International semi-truck pulling a trailer and driven by Lonnie Edwards, 51, of Heron Lake, was headed east on Minnesota 30. Westbound was a 1995 Toyota Corolla.

The two vehicles collided in the eastbound lane. Edwards, who was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, had no apparent injuries. Damage to the semi was severe.

The identity of the driver and whether or not there were passengers in the Corolla have not been released.

The report states that information will be released at noon today.
