LUVERNE — Icy roads contributed to almost a dozen car crashes Monday in Rock County, from fender benders and ditch landings to rollovers resulting in an air ambulance transport.

Before noon, a semi-truck tipped over on 181st Street and two pickups trucks were involved in a crash on U.S. 75.

A tow was called for the semi, and both the Minnesota State Patrol and the Rock County Sheriff’s Office responded to the pickup crash.

No injuries were reported at either scene, according to a report from the Rock County Sheriff’s Office.

Shortly before 4 p.m., a pickup rolled on Rock County 3 just north of the Iowa state line, but again, no injuries were reported.

An hour later, a semi went on the ditch on the same road by the intersection of Rock County 1.

At 6 p.m., a rollover accident south of Manley had the Rock County Ambulance, Hills Rescue and the Rock County Sheriff’s Office scrambling to get a person freed from a vehicle.

The Trauma 1 Air Ambulance was called to transport the victim to a Sioux Falls, S.D hospital.

“We had several crashes and Luverne Rescue was called,” said Rock County Sheriff Evan Verbrugge. “They would just get clear and get called again right away.”

At 7:16 p.m., dispatchers sent the sheriff’s office, the Rock County Ambulance and Luverne Rescue to assist a woman who had gotten trapped when her vehicle ended up on its side.

She was uninjured, but was stuck in her seatbelt. Shortly after 8 p.m. the Minnesota State Patrol responded to a report of a truck on its top on I-90 near mile marker 10.

Around 9:18 p.m., a rollover was reported on U.S. 75 two miles north of Luverne.

The driver was upside down in the seat restraints. The sheriff’s office, ambulance and Luverne Rescue were dispatched. At 9:29 p.m., a call came in regarding a rollover on I-90 two miles west of Luverne, again with a person trapped in the vehicle.

The Minnesota State Patrol responded, along with the Rock County Sheriff’s Office, the Rock County Ambulance and Luverne Rescue, but the victim was not transported.

Another report came in at 9:49 p.m. regarding a rollover with a person trapped in a vehicle on I-90 near mile marker 10.

Again, the Minnesota State Patrol, Rock County Sheriff’s Office and Luverne Rescue responded.
