Obituary: Larry Green

Larry James Green, 66, was born on March 18, 1944, in Worthington, MN, the son of Raymond and Evelyn (Hart) Green.

He grew up on his grandfather’s farm near Brewster, MN. Larry married Diane Schettler on August 26, 1967, in Wilmont, MN. After their marriage, they moved to Minneapolis, MN, where Larry worked for the Ford Motor Company. In the early 1970’s, they moved to a farm near Wilmont, MN, where they rented for a short time. They later bought their own farm which they farmed until their retirement in 2002. They then moved to Slayton, MN.

Larry enjoyed helping friends farm and political lobbying. During retirement, he did part time commercial RV delivery.

Larry died on Friday, February 25, 2011 in Pierce County, NE.

Larry is survived by his wife, Diane of Slayton, MN; three sons, James Green of Slayton, MN, Raymond Green of Tacoma, WA, and Robert Green of Avoca, MN; one granddaughter, Ashleigh Green of Henderson, NV, and one sister, Janet (Vern) Gobeli of Grand Prairie, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Evelyn; stepmother, Pilar, and one brother, Robert.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at 10:30 a.m., at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Wilmont, MN, with Father James Seitz officiating.

Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 am at the church on Tuesday.

Benson Funeral Home in Worthington is in charge of the arrangements.
