David "Chief" J. Steffl, 78, of Worthington, died Friday, March 11, 2011, at the Golden Living Center in Slayton, Minnesota. He was born May 4, 1932 in Redwood County Minnesota, the son of Andrew & Matilda (Heiling) Steffl. He resided in Worthington, Minnesota since 1975.
David "Chief" J. Steffl, 78, of Worthington, died Friday, March 11, 2011, at the Golden Living Center in Slayton, Minnesota. He was born May 4, 1932 in Redwood County Minnesota, the son of Andrew & Matilda (Heiling) Steffl. He resided in Worthington, Minnesota since 1975.
He married Mary Ann Seifert on April 11, 1953 in Wabasso, Minnesota.
Twelve children were born to this union. David loved his family and enjoyed hunting, working on his computer, coaching fast pitch, following his kids and grandkids many school, music and sporting events and was an avid & vocal fan of all Minnesota sports team.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Steffl, Slayton, MN; children, Steve (Michelle) Steffl of Lake Wilson, Minnesota; Neal (Jane) Steffl of Worthington, Minnesota; Donna Steffl, of Sauk Centre, Minnesota, Kathy
(Greg) Vaske from Omaha, Nebraska; Colleen (Steve)Benson of Garretson, South Dakota; Tom (Sue) Steffl of Worthington, Minnesota; Michael Steffl of Worthington, Minnesota; David (Deb) Steffl of Chandler, Minnesota; Patrick (Susette) Steffl of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and Barb (Matt) Tabor of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota; and 30 grandchildren and 8 great grand children, brother Leonard (Janet) Steffl of Morgan, Minnesota; and sister Daria (Willie) Forster of Fairmont, Minnesota.
David was preceded in death by his parents Andrew & Matilda Steffl, by his son Richard Steffl, daughter Therese Schleppenbach and grandson Tony Schleppenbach.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 7 PM, with a rosary at 7 PM, at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington.
The memorial service will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Worthington officiated by Father Jim Callahan and Father James Seitz, burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Worthington.
