Letter: Legislators' animal facility bill misguided

My local paper printed an article stating that Sen. Doug Magnus and Rep. Rod Hamilton were sponsoring bills to make it illegal to make video/audio recordings at an animal facility without permission. As a Minnesotan, I vigorously oppose this legislation as very wrong.
If a business makes money on the backs and blood of animals refuses to be transparent and open about how it treats those animals, that business immediately comes under suspicion. Do we have Mr. Fox operating the chicken farm while the toothpick in his mouth suspiciously looks like a feather?
I enjoy a good steak or pork chop just like the next person. But if that steak or chop comes from a facility that horribly mistreats animals, then any legislation protecting that business is extremely misguided.
I encourage Magnus’ and Hamilton’s constituents to contact them and tell them to withdraw these bills. As a responsible Minnesotan, I have sent my letters already.
