MANKATO — Motorists on Minnesota 60 from Worthington south to Nobles County 4 will be detoured beginning Tuesday. The detour consists of Nobles County 4, 5 and 35.

Travelers are also advised that the Worthington rest area, expected to open May 26, has been temporarily relocated to a site at the Iowa border for the 2011 season.

Construction on Minnesota 60 from Bigelow to Paul Avenue in Worthington has been under way since August. The detour will allow the contractor to complete the construction of the mainline pavement and connecting roads.

The detour will also accommodate the construction of new alignment on Minnesota 60 from Paul Avenue to Nobles County 35 in Worthington. Areas of major impact include the Kragness Avenue area and Morningside neighborhood. Construction is expected on this segment by early June, and a public meeting will be scheduled prior to construction for affected residents to meet with the road builders.

All phases of the Minnesota 60 expansion from Bigelow to Intertstate 90 are expected to be complete by the end of 2013.
