PREP GOLF ROUNDUP: Westbrook-Walnut Grove fires 171 to win in triangular boys’ golf meet

WESTBROOK — Mountain Lake Christian’s Aaron Walzak fired a round of 40 to claim medalist honors, but it was the host team that claimed the team title Thursday afternoon in a golf meet at the Rolling Hills Golf Club.

WESTBROOK — Mountain Lake Christian’s Aaron Walzak fired a round of 40 to claim medalist honors, but it was the host team that claimed the team title Thursday afternoon in a golf meet at the Rolling Hills Golf Club.

Westbrook-Walnut Grove shot a 171 to garner the team title followed by Fulda with 184, Hills-Beaver Creek with a 199 and MLC with a 205.

Aaron Theisen shot a 41 to lead the Chargers, followed by Jared Lindaman with a 42, Taylor Lindaman with a 43 and Nick Lehnhoff with a 45.

The Raiders were led by Tony Holinka’s round of 42 followed by a 46 from Mic Holinka and rounds of 48 from both Mike Deuschle and Mitch Baumhoefner.

Austin Rauk paced the Patriots with a 47 while Caleb Schroer fired a 48, Wyatt Ellefson scored a 51 and Stuart Plimpton had a 53.

In addition to Walzak’s low round, MLC had Mitchell Hirsch fire a 49 while Micah Bargen and David Lohrenz each scored a 58.

Fulda girls claim triangular win at Rolling Hills

WESTBROOK — Sarah Strenge’s medalist round of 50 helped pace the Fulda Raiders to a team win over Murray County Central and Westbrook-Walnut Grove.

Fulda fired a team score of 208 followed by MCC with a 226 and W-WG with an incomplete score.

Along with Strenge’s medalist round, the Raiders had Tessa Kramer score a 51 followed by Caitlin Strenge with a 53 and Madeline Westra with a 54.

The Rebels were led by Chelsey Jurrens and Michelle Carlson each with rounds of 55 while Hannah Davis tallied a 56 and Haleigh Clarke shot a 60.

Paige Erickson fired a 52 for the Chargers while Molly Jarmer shot a 57 and Abby Herding scored a 63.

Kaylee Benson earns medalist honors, leads JCC girls to win

SANBORN — The Jackson County Central girls’ golf team scored a team total of 193 to beat Red Rock Central’s 220 at Farmers Golf Course.

Kaylee Benson fired a medalist round of 40 to lead the the Huskies, followed by Blaike Smith with a 49 and Emma Lilleberg and Shelby Benson each with a 52.

Alison Kircher paced the Falcons with a 42 while Makayla Meier scored a 55, Shelby Evans carded a 60 and Jaycee Nelson recorded a 63.

JCC boys edge RRC in dual

SANBORN — Tyler Asa fired a low round of 40 to claim medalist honors while the Jackson County Central Huskies claimed an 11-stroke win over the Red Rock Central Falcons at the Farmers Golf Course.

JCC recorded a team score of 167, while RRC fired a 178.

The other scores for the Huskies were a 41 from Tanner Asa, Kyle Edlin with a 42 and Joe Brinkman’s 44.

Jordan Smith and Tyler Erickson each fired rounds of 42 to pace the Falcons while Zach Valentin carded a 45 and Collin Nickel scored a 49.

SWC boys win triangular over Adrian, SWU

WORTHINGTON — Monte DeKam’s medalist round of 41 paced Southwest Christian to a triangular win over Adrian and Southwestern United Thursday afternoon, hosted by SWU at Prairie View Golf Links.

SWC tallied a team score of 174 followed by Adrian with a 180 and SWU with a 197.

Damon Vander Maten followed DeKam’s medalist round for the Eagles with a 43 while Sam VanBruggen carded a 44 and Trey VanEssen fired a 46.

Justin Elias and Zachary Berreau each tallied a round of 44 to lead the Dragons, while Ryan Elias scored a 45 and Ben Henning shot a 47.

The Wildcats were led by Clay Salzwedel’s round of 45 followed by Logan Ellenbecker with a 48, Aurelio Boerlin with a 50 and Kyle Wendland with a 54.

Vreeman fires a 40 to lead SWC girls past Adrian

WORTHINGTON — Emaleigh Vreeman was 10 strokes better than the next nearest golfer in Thursday afternoon’s dual between Southwest Christian and Adrian at Prairie View Golf Links.

Vreeman’s round of 40 helped the Eagles edge the Dragons by a score of 216 to 220.

Alexis Mesman fired a 55, Carli Hulstein carded a 59 and Bernice Vander Wal and Shelby Klaarenbeek each tallied a 62 to round out scores for the Eagles.

Laura Lorang fired a 50 to lead Adrian followed by Marissa Veld with 53. Katie Wieneke scored a 55 and MacKenzie Wagner posted a 62.
