Hello Worthington!
So many things to tell you about. The first thing I want to share is my family’s visit.
My family came the last week of April, and it was amazing to see them again. And it wasn’t just my family I saw — they gave me the best surprise ever by bringing my best friend along. The first few days we got to relax with each other and catch up on things, and they got to meet some of the people that I have gotten to know here in Germany. We also took a nice trip. We went to a castle, Neuschwanstein. It’s near Munich, and it was absolutely beautiful! And all-in-all, I loved being with my family again, and it was even better because I was with my family and the new family and friends in Germany.
Then, a few weeks after my family left, I moved into my next and last host family, the Schlipfs. One of the daughters is a really good friend of mine. And since day one, it’s been amazing!
From May 30-June 1, my school took a Study Trip to Paris. It was so cool to see! I got to see two things I’ve always wanted to see — the Eiffel Tower and the original Mona Lisa. The first day we went to see the Eiffel Tower. Our group got lucky to go up in the tower; they were booked. It was so cool being able to see all of Paris, and we also got to see it by night. I found out that it “twinkles” at night, too. About every half hour, they have flashing light through out the tower, and it reminded me of a sparkler on the Fourth of July. Then the Mona Lisa — a true eye-opener! It was in a great big room, inside a case. The room was filled with people. I had to stand on my tippy-toes to see it in the back. But, I got to the front, and I was standing about 10 feet away from the Mona Lisa!
Well, that’s the update for now — new experiences, new friends, and learning more and more of the language. Next time I can share with you my trip to Berlin with an old host family of mine (Aschenbrenners) and some of the things when the City Band comes — and some of the last things I will do here in Crailsheim.
Until next time.
