WILMONT — Adam Diekmann silenced Hadley’s bats Wednesday night in an amateur baseball game.

Diekmann allowed one run on four hits while striking out eight in a complete-game gem, leading Wilmont to a 4-1 victory against the Buttermakers.

Zach Bruns suffered the loss for Hadley. He allowed four runs while striking out 10 in eight innings.

Eric Wieneke had two hits to lead the Buttermakers, while Bruns added an RBI double in the fourth inning.

Steven Kremer was 1-for-2 with a run scored and two walks for the Cardinals (11-2), while Tanner Loosbrock added an RBI fielder’s choice.

Lucas Henning had a single and scored a run for Wilmont, which will travel to Jackson on Friday night.

Heron Lake 16, Windom 6 (8 innings)

HERON LAKE — Kirk McBreen, Ethan Duffy and Matt Franks each smacked four hits Wednesday night, sparking the Heron Lake Lakers to a 10-run victory over the Windom Pirates in a First Nite League amateur baseball game at Laker Field.

Heron Lake, which improves to 10-10 overall and 8-7 in league play, scored a trio of runs in the first inning and broke the game open with back-to-back five-run outputs in the fifth and sixth frames — building a 14-3 bulge.

McBreen finished 4-for-5 with four singles, four runs scored and two RBIs, Duffy was 4-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, and Franks went 4-for-6 with a double and two RBIs to highlight Heron Lake’s 21-hit offensive attack.

Also contributing at the plate for the Lakers were Evan Place (3-for-5, two RBIs), Ike Rogers (2-for-5, two RBIs) and Eric Milbrath (2-for-6, two RBIs). Lon Eichenberger and Octavio Jimenez (RBI) each added a base hit.

Chad Knutson (five strikeouts, one walk) earned the win on the mound, scattering eight hits and allowing six runs in seven innings of work. Ben Scheevel pitched the eighth inning for the Lakers.

Kirby Johnson (3-for-4) belted a pair of solo home runs and a double to lead Windom’s offense. Matt Anderson also clubbed a solo home run — back-to-back with Johnson in the second inning.

Joel Riordan, Trent Anderson, Justin Axford, Brad Schlomann and Darren Tietz each collected a base hit for the Pirates, while Nick Kulseth, Dan McClevin and Jon Dunnink combined to handle the pitching duties.

Heron Lake plays at Jackson next Wednesday night.
