JACKSON — Jackson’s bats produced early an often in a First Nite League amateur baseball game against Heron Lake on Wednesday night, the Bulls earning an 11-1, eight-inning victory.
Tom Hady (six innings pitched, five hits, one earned run, two walks, one strikeout) started on the mound for Jackson and Pat Boggess (two innings, one hit, five strikeouts) pitched the remainder of the game for the Bulls.
Lon Eichenberger (four innings, eight hits, five earned runs, three walks, three strikeouts) was the losing pitcher for the Lakers, with Matt Franks (3 2/3 innings, seven hits, six runs, three walks, strikeout) finishing out the game, which ended with Jackson walking off via the ten-run rule.
Brian Rasche led the Bulls’ offense by going 3-for-5 with three RBI, Pat Rients was 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI-triple, Jason Cook was 2-for-4 with an RBI and Kip Wachal, Blaise Jacobsen and Marcus Schultz all recorded two hits apiece.
Eichenberger (2-for-4) scored Heron Lake’s only run after reaching on a bunt single in the sixth and scoring on a double by Kirk McBreen. Eric Milbrath was 2-for-4 with a double for the Lakers and Matt Franks had the team’s only other hit with a single in the second.
Heron Lake (10-11, 8-8) will host Spencer, Iowa, on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Wilmont 9, Windom 5
WINDOM — A trio of players had two hits as Wilmont defeated Windom in an amateur baseball game Wednesday night.
Lucas Henning, Justin Saufley and Adam Diekmann were each 2-for-4 with an RBI to lead the Cardinals.
Joe Ahrens picked up the victory on the hill. He allowed no runs on one hit while walking two and striking out three in three and two-thirds innings.
He came on in relief of Nick Ahrens, who threw four and one-third innings.
Saufley finished the game on the hill. He allowed one hit while striking out one in one inning.
Nick Kulseth suffered the loss for the Pirates. He came on in relief of starter Charlie Dunnink.
Brett Mattson was 4-for-4 to lead Windom at the plate, while Kirby Johnson was 2-for-5. Matt Anderson was 1-for-5, but had a two-run double in the third inning.

Marshall 6, Hadley 1
MARSHALL — Hadley managed a mere three hits against Marshall, falling in an amateur baseball game.
Eric Wieneke, Paul Counter and Trent Carlson each had a hit for the Buttermakers (10-9, 7-7), while James Wajer drove in Austin Christensen in the eighth inning for the only run.
Derek Johnson suffered the loss for Hadley. He allowed four earned runs while striking out one in six innings. Alex Van’t Hof threw two innings and recorded a strikeout in a relief.
