SLEEPY EYE — The Worthington Legion baseball team was trailing Sleepy Eye entering the fifth inning of Thursday’s game, but suddenly the team’s offense seemed to click.
Post 5 scored six runs in the frame and starting pitcher Adam Munkel held Sleepy Eye the rest of the way to hand Worthington a 7-4 victory.
Behind 3-1 entering the fifth, Tanner Rogers led off the inning with a single for Worthington and Mitch Jensen then tied the game with a two-run home run to begin the six-run rally.
Munkel pitched a complete game for Worthington to pick up the win. He allowed eight hits, walked one and struck out six.
Tommy Hayenga was 3-for-5 with a double to lead the Post 5 offense. Tyler Stugelmeyer, Lucas Henning, Stuart Rogers, Jon Reller and Justin Larson each contributed a hit.
Worthington (12-2) plays a doubleheader at New Ulm on Tuesday.
