Railroad Days in Iowa this weekend

SANBORN, Iowa — The northwest Iowa community of Sanborn will celebrate its 15th annual Railroad Days Friday through Sunday.

SANBORN, Iowa — The northwest Iowa community of Sanborn will celebrate its 15th annual Railroad Days Friday through Sunday.

The schedule of events includes:

Friday

9 a.m. (registration from 7:45 to 8:30 a.m.)— antique tractor ride, line up two blocks south of Ryden Equipment on Profit Street

9 a.m. to 5 p.m. — Sanborn Preservation flea market, Main Street

11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. — Top Dog contest, community center

1 to 4 p.m. — Truck Museum open, South Eastern Street

5:30 to 7 p.m. — Car Cruise-In, Sybesma Graphics

6:30 to 8:15 p.m. — gospel concert featuring Foundation Quartet, First Reformed Church

7 p.m. — Burn-Out contest, Profit Street

7 to 9 p.m. — Poker Run, begins and ends at Sanborn Country Club

9:30 to 10:30 p.m. — fireworks, Miller Park

9:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. — karaoke, Sanborn Country Club

Saturday

6 to 10 a.m. — Mason’s pancake breakfast, Methodist church bake sale

8 a.m. — 5k run and one-mile Fun Run-Walk

9 a.m. to 1 p.m. — Sanborn Preservation flea market

10:30 a.m. — parade

10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. — lunch in the parks

11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. — Blank Children’s Hospital safety trailer on display, Miller Park

1 to 4 p.m. — Kick’s Mini Train and Ferris wheel, Miller Park

1 p.m. — kickball tournament

1 to 5 p.m. — free swim, aquatic center

1 to 4 p.m. — Truck Museum open, South Eastern Street

2 to 4 p.m. — truck and wagon rides, Miller Park

3 to 4 p.m. — free watermelon feed, Miller Park

4 p.m. — kids’ pedal pull, south side of Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn High Middle School

Sunday

10 a.m. to 1 p.m. — omelet breakfast, middle school

10 a.m. (registration from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m.)— disc golf tournament, Miller Park
