WILMONT — With Wilmont trailing Adrian 3-1 and running out of innings in a Sunday night amateur baseball game, one swing of the bat from Steven Kramer changed everything.
Kramer hit a game-tying two-run home run in the seventh inning to spark a three-run rally as the Cardinals pulled out a 4-3 victory.
After Kramer’s homer, Joe Ahrens reached base with a single and Adam Diekmann doubled him in for the eventual winning run.
Justin Saufley and Joe Ahrens each had two hits on the day to lead Wilmont.
Nick Ahrens threw the first six innings for the Cardinals, with Joe Ahrens picking up the win after two innings in relief.
Saufley pitched the ninth inning to record a save.
The victory gave Wilmont a final record of 17-5 overall (16-3 in league play) entering the playoffs.
The Cardinals open their playoff campaign by hosting Minneota on Wednesday.
