Letter: Time to shut down irresponsible leadership

The Republicans are yet again expanding a tax protection program for the rich. Republicans don’t care for fair taxes even at the cost of destroying state government. I’d accept higher state taxes on my limited income. Why won’t the Republicans and the rich do the same?

The Republicans are yet again expanding a tax protection program for the rich. Republicans don’t care for fair taxes even at the cost of destroying state government. I’d accept higher state taxes on my limited income. Why won’t the Republicans and the rich do the same?

State government is the catchall for all of those programs that no rich person or corporation will pay for. The Republicans and their camp followers lack any critical analysis on needed state tax revenue. Like businesses increasing prices for the revenue to pay unavoidable expenses, responsible Minnesota government has to do the same.

Cutting deeper into the growing costs of education, elderly care, health care and other essential services is not a reasonable or Christian solution to balancing state budget. I am real angry at this stupid wall the Republicans have created to protect the rich while destroying the lives of people, our State government and economy.

The latest is a proposed surcharge on human services. This means a tax on the poor, disabled, elderly and hard-up people for care services, health care and other assistance. This comes even while the rich reject even sharing in a 4 percent across the board tax increase. This Republican tax war has to be ended.

Let’s start a recall petition under Minn. Stat. Section 211C to remove Republican Representatives District 21 A Chris Swedzinski, District 21 B Paul Torkelson, District 22 A Joe Schomacker, District 21 B Mary Franson, District 22 B Rod Hamilton, District 23 B Kathy Brynaert, District 24 A Bob Gunther, District 24 B Tony Cornish, and District 25 A Glenn Gruenhagen and Republican Senators District 21 Gary Dahms, DMistrict 22 Doug Magnus Bill, District 24 Julie Rosen and District 25 Al Dekruif from their jobs.

Let’s shut down irresponsible leadership instead of our state government. Let’s stop protecting the rich.
