Letter: Obama facing trash talk from Republicans

For those of us who watched the spectacle of the next presidential election unfold in Iowa it has become abundantly clear that most of the Republican hopefuls suffer from a recently discovered disorder that, I believe, we could characterize as “Obamaphobia.”

Their main fear is that they may have to admit that the debt crisis and its resulting fallout are really the fault of a few right-wing extremists whose only answer to any number of solutions is “no.” Their main objective is to be sure to cast a dark shadow over the president and anything and anyone remotely associated with him.

Presently, they are criticizing him for taking a vacation while most of the Republicans in Congress are either out of town or campaigning against him. Incidentally, our president has taken fewer vacation days than either Reagan or George W. Bush had taken at this point in their first terms.

Get your trash cans empty, ‘cause you’re going to have lots of garbage to sort out in the next 16 months!
