IOWA PREP FOOTBALL ROUNDUP: Sheldon cruises to 44-14 victory against Estherville-Lincoln Central

SHELDON, Iowa — Chris Balster hooked up with Joe Kuiper for a 70-yard touchdown on the first offensive play of the game Friday night, setting the tone for Sheldon’s 44-14 victory over Estherville-Lincoln Central in an Iowa high school football game.

SHELDON, Iowa — Chris Balster hooked up with Joe Kuiper for a 70-yard touchdown on the first offensive play of the game Friday night, setting the tone for Sheldon’s 44-14 victory over Estherville-Lincoln Central in an Iowa high school football game.

Balster finished 3-for-8 passing with 100 yards and a trio of touchdown strikes in addition to gaining a team-high 139 yards rushing on 13 carries, sparking the Orabs (4-0) on offense.

Kuiper also had a 20-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter, while Hunter McDonald had a 10-yard touchdown grab in the fourth.

McDonald (13 carries for 128 yards) also rushed for a pair of scores, including a 72-yard touchdown in the first and a 25-yard touchdown in the fourth.

Cody Hatting also scored a touchdown for the Orabs, finding the end zone from 10 yards out in the second quarter.

Travis Nelson added 40 yards on 10 carries for Sheldon, which gained a total of 322 yards rushing on 41 attempts.

Zach Kleinwolterink was 5-for-6 on PAT kicks and also booted a school-record 46-yard field goal in the second quarter.

Mitchell McDonald (six tackles, three sacks) and Toby Maggert (six tackles, two sacks) led the way defensively for Sheldon, which plays at Spirit Lake next Friday.

HARTLEY, Iowa — Ethan Stofferan scored from three yards out and Harrison Feldkamp converted the PAT, tying Friday night’s Class 1A District 2 game at 7-all in the second quarter.

However, Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn’s Logan Rozeboom scored on a 75-yard touchdown run right before half, giving the Hawks a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.

Owen Wiese was 7-for-21 passing for 84 yards for the Generals (1-2, 0-1). Dillon Thies had four receptions for 59 yards.

Stofferan had 13 carries for 104 yards, while Feldkamp had 51 yards on eight carries.

Stofferan also had four solo tackles, 12 assists and recovered a fumble.

Josh Earll had five solo stops and seven assists and also recovered a fumble, while Marshall Eddy had three solo tackles and eight assists.

The Generals will host Sioux Central on Friday.

WEST BEND, Iowa — Harris-Lake Park was tagged with its first loss of the season Friday night, as West Bend-Mallard claimed a 30-point victory in an eight-player football game.

Colin Brons led H-LP (3-1) by going 11-for-21 with 120 yards and two touchdowns through the air.

Kade Heikens (two catches for 45 yards) had a 14-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter, while Eli Ihnen (four catches for 66 yards) hauled in a 46-yard touchdown pass from Brons in the third.

Brady Nissen rushed for 58 yards on 15 carries to lead the Wolves’ ground game.

Sam Bosma had a team-high 18 tackles for H-LP, which plays at Corwith-Wesley-LuVerne next Friday.
