ADRIAN — From homemade pizza to lobster tail with filet mignon, The Crystal in Adrian has a menu that would tempt any palette in any mood.

General Manager Dustin Everett has been redecorating, making menu changes and training wait staff to focus on customer service as he works toward his goal of making The Crystal a premier steakhouse and a fine dining experience.

“We’re focusing more on steakhouse food — stuffed burgers, steaks we cut ourselves,” Everett said. “We also have homemade sauce and dough for our pizza. We make everything from scratch, which gives us a unique style and taste.”

Since June, The Crystal has been opening for breakfast at 6 a.m., and has daily specials for lunch and dinner. From 25-cent wing night to prime rib to pizza to seafood, just reading the menu is enough to make any tummy growl with hunger.

“We’ve added Larry Lang’s famous onion rings,” Everett said. “And we’re really glad to have him on board.”

Lang is Everett’s personal assistant and head chef at The Crystal.

According to Everett, The Crystal has added five to 10 jobs at the restaurant in the past year, and he works with the staff to make sure that things are very customer-oriented.

With a professional drink menu, wine tastings and a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, Everett hopes customers will head back on a regular basis to check out what’s cooking.

Thursday nights, kids eat free with the purchase of an adult meal, and new video arcade games have been added.

Football fans will appreciate the three TVs all tuned to NFL games all day long on Sundays, and pizza specials on Wednesday and Sunday night are a family favorite.

“We also deliver pizzas, even out of town,” Everett said. “We’ve delivered pizzas to the school.”

On Friday nights, lobster tail and prime rib are on special, and Saturday nights The Crystal adds filet mignon to the lobster and prime rib.

Their seafood selection includes lobster, jumbo shrimp, Alaskan king crab, scallops, mussels and clams. Broasted chicken is also being added to the menu.

The Crystal is also taking reservations for parties, and will tailor a group menu to the customer’s wishes.

“Burger bar, pizzas — they tell us what they want and we’ll make it happen,” Everett explained. “We’re all about pleasing the customers.”

Everett, who has worked in a variety of jobs that include working at a pizza establishment and serving in the Army National Guard, is in charge of hiring and training staff, but also handles paperwork, quality assurance and other tasks.

“I also like to get out and talk to the customers each evening, and make sure they are getting the service and fine dining they expect and deserve,” he added. “Sometimes we have sample drinks, because it’s fun to get people to try new things. We do a bit of wine tasting when we have the staff on hand, and we also have a full off-sale beer and liquor selection at very competitive prices.”

Happy Hour, which runs from 4 to 6 p.m. nightly, means buy one, get one free drinks.

The Crystal, which is open daily from 6 a.m. to 2 a.m., is located at 306 N. Maine Ave.
