Concert season to kick off Oct. 21

WORTHINGTON — Four concerts will be offered to members of the Worthington Concert Association this year: Rickie Lee & the Fabulous ’50s, a Buddy Holly singing sensation; Doug Mattocks, “World on a String,” a virtuoso banjoist and guitarist; Fry Street String Quartet, national and international performers; and The Redhead Express, a family of nine performing original and traditional bluegrass, gospel and old-time music.
In addition, members may attend reciprocity concerts in Slayton, Windom and Sheldon, Iowa.
Memberships can be purchased at the first concert, Richie Lee & the Fabulous ’50s, at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 21 at Memorial Auditorium Performing Arts Center, Worthington.
Lee has been inducted into the Iowa Rock ’N’ Roll Hall of Fame. Besides Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens, he also pays tribute to Elvis Presley, Eddie Cochran, Chuck Berry and other ’50s singers.
