Letter: Writer says no 'misinformation' was spread about HLWD plan

This letter is in response to Julie Buntjer’s article appearing Oct. 15 titled “WMD plan under fire.” The title was correct along with most of the article, except for one paragraph.

I dispute the claim that misinformation was spread throughout Jackson County because the Jackson County commissioners didn’t respond to a mediation offer from the Board of Soil and Water Resources. Exactly what misinformation was she referring to? Is it because the public says it doesn’t want a tax increase while HLWD Administrator Jan Voit calls it a fee? The public is not that gullible.

Call it a fee, charge, contribution, donation, whatever you like — the taxpaying public isn’t willing to pay it. In closing, I would like to commend Jackson County commissioners for standing up for their constituency.
