PIPESTONE — Kids-N-Kare Day Care Center of Pipestone recently received loan assistance from the Southwest Initiative Foundation’s (SWIF) Microenterprise Loan Program.
Kids-N-Kare Day Care Center, located at 725 Second St. N.W., was started in Pipestone in 1994 and currently serves a total of 40 children, including infants, toddlers, pre-school and school-age children. The business is licensed for 54 children.
Kids-N-Kare Day Care Center offers child care services for children in the Pipestone area, including field trips to businesses and facilities within the city.
The center also makes it possible for the children to participate in the local summer programs such as the Summer Reading Program, swimming lessons and other activities by ensuring that they get to their activities on time, along with a responsible adult in attendance.
The services provide a structured day care, along with opportunities for children to experience enriching activities in the community.
Kristina Meulebroeck, who had previous served as executive director of Kids-N-Kare for three years, returned to the position approximately six months ago. She has reorganized the business and expanded services, which has resulted in increased enrollment to almost full status, through March of 2012. If interested in enrolling children in Kids-N-Kare, or finding out more about their programs, contact Meulebroeck at (507) 825-4582.
“Kids-N-Kare provides an essential service to families in the Pipestone area, and we are pleased to be able to provide them with this assistance,” said SWIF Program Officer Kurt Thompson.
Proceeds from the SWIF loan will be used for working capital.
SWIF’s Microenterprise Loan Program offers loans of up to $50,000 for starting or expanding for-profit small businesses located within the 18 counties of southwest Minnesota. This program also now serves Carver, Stearns and Wright counties.
In addition to financing, SWIF provides free technical assistance to all clients who have received a loan through the Microenterprise Program for the life of the loan.
SWIF staff and business consultants provide one-to-one business planning, accounting, marketing and other training opportunities that will help entrepreneurs succeed in their venture.
The program receives funding assistance from the U.S. Small Business Administration and U.S. Department of Agriculture.
