Share-a-thon raises money for Christian radio

OKOBOJI, Iowa — KJIA Christian Radio will broadcast its annual Share-a-thon fundraiser today and Friday. Theme will be “Where You Belong,” featuring interviews with local listeners, special guests, music and the opportunity to give a donation to the listener-supported ministry of KJIA.

KJIA is part of the nonprofit Minn-Iowa Christian Broadcasting, which has a goal to share the gospel of Jesus Christ through its 24-hour daily presentation of Christian teaching programs, inspirational music, news and information. KJIA can be heard on 88.9 FM.

Turkey supper slated for Saturday in Lake Park

LAKE PARK, Iowa — First Presbyterian Church of Lake Park will host its annual turkey supper from 5 to7 p.m. Saturday at the church, 1220 S. Market St.

The meal will feature turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, homemade stuffing, corn, green beans, cole slaw, cranberries, salads, rolls, pie, milk and coffee.

Tickets available for Indian Lake event

WORTHINGTON — The Men’s Oyster Stew Banquet will be 6 p.m. Saturday at Indian Lake Baptist Church, rural Worthington. A program featuring auctioneer Aaron Williams will follow the meal at approximately 7 p.m.

Theater for the Thirsty performs in Storden

STORDEN — In conjunction with the church’s Harvest Festival weekend, Theater of the Thirsty will present “My Name Is Daniel” at 10 a.m. Sunday at Storden Baptist Church, 4011 United States Ave.

Jeremiah and Vanessa Gamble, performers of Theater for the Thirsty, have a goal to “refresh people’s spirits, challenge their assumptions, entertain their socks off and inject some hope into their lives.”

First Presbyterian plans dinner and auction

LISMORE — First Presbyterian Church, Lismore, will serve a dinner of soup, buns, pies and desserts starting at 11 a.m. Sunday at the American Legion Hall in Lismore.

A bake and gift sale will start at 10:45 a.m., and an auction at 12:30 p.m. The auction will feature handmade quilted items, tickets or merchandise from the Twins, Sioux Falls Pheasants baseball team, Sioux Falls Stampede hockey team and Adrian Dragons, meat bundles, gift certificates and other items.

Harvest Dinner slated for Sunday in Jackson

JACKSON — A Harvest Dinner will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 101 Kimball Ave., Jackson.

Turkey, dressing, potatoes, gravy, corn, cranberries, rolls, pie, ice cream, coffee and milk will be served for a suggested donation.

Proceeds from the event will go toward the church’s general expenses.

Journey Bound to perform concert in Sibley

SIBLEY, Iowa — A concert by the Journey Bound Quartet will be 3 p.m. Sunday at the Sibley Christian Reformed Church, 115 Maple Drive.

Based in Des Moines, Iowa, the Journey Bound Quartet has been bringing southern gospel music to audiences around the upper Midwest for 15 years.

Soup and pie supper coming up in Ellsworth

ELLSWORTH — A soup and pie supper will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Zion Presbyterian Church, 420 Main St., Ellsworth.

Chili, vegetable beef, chicken and wild rice soups, sandwiches, assorted pies and desserts will be served for a free-will offering.

There will also be a bake sale and raffle drawing.

Valley Male Chorus to present concert in Leota

LEOTA — The Valley Male Chorus of Rock Valley, Iowa, will present a concert of sacred music at 7 p.m. Sunday at Bethel Reformed Church in Leota. The concert is sponsored by the Southwest Minnesota Fellowship of Churches.

A free-will offering will be taken for the benefit of children and adults with disabilities.

Renner to perform at Helping Hand banquet

WORTHINGTON — The annual fundraising banquet for the Helping Hand Pregnancy Center will be Nov. 17 at the American Reformed Church, 1720 N. Burlington Ave., Worthington. Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m., with the program to follow.

Singer and songwriter Sara Renner will be the featured presenter. Renner has shared her unique blend of pop, gospel and jazz in more than 1,000 churches, festivals and event centers in more than 30 states and 10 countries. Based in Minneapolis, Renner has produced four CDs and one live-concert DVD that are sold exclusively at her concerts and online.

Also a seasoned worship leader, Renner is currently the director of contemporary worship at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Mahtomedi.

Mark calendar for Nativity Experience

WORTHINGTON — A Nativity Experience will be offered from 5 to 8 p.m. Nov. 18 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 19 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 230 Clary St.

More than 200 Nativity sets will be displayed. Coffee, hot cider and Christmas goodies will be served.

There is an admission fee.

Westminster hosts Master’s Voice Quartet

WORTHINGTON —The Master’s Voice Quartet will present a concert during the 10 a.m. worship service Nov. 20 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 230 Clary St.

This group from Sioux Falls, S.D., has been singing southern gospel music since 1988, performing in churches and for various organizations in the four state area of South Dakota, Minnesota, Nebraska and Iowa.
