ROSEMOUNT — Minnesota Energy Resources (MER) announced the three winners in its “It’s Worth the Energy” grant opportunity.
Organizations were encouraged to submit proposals for projects that improve the community in one of three areas: Environment, Community or Human Services. Three finalists were selected and were voted on by visitors to the Minnesota Energy Resources’ Facebook page.
The Worthington Area YMCA was the second-place winner. It will receive $2,000 toward improving the lifestyle habits of the local Hispanic and Latino population through increased physical activities and good nutrition.
“We really appreciate being able to be a participant in the online grant contest,” Worthington Area YMCA Executive Director Andy Johnson said in a press release. “MER has been a longtime supporter of our mission, and I know we could not provide our services without the support that MER and others throughout our community give to us.”
The top three projects, selected by an independent panel of judges, were voted on from Oct. 3-20, 2011.
