What a great opportunity for the Worthington High School Band to march in Chicago this past week! It is educational experiences like this that will stay with the students throughout their lifetime. Congratulations to the students, director and parents!
Recently I had the opportunity to conduct the Southwest Conference Honors Choir in Luverne. Worthington was well represented in that ensemble, and the choir performed solo in concert that evening. I was delighted with the opportunity to also work with them in a clinic session that afternoon. What a well-disciplined, hard-working and talented group of singers! Their director is also to be commended for her great choice of music and strong leadership. I especially enjoyed their presentation of the Schubert with orchestral accompaniment. Obviously, the string program is also a quality program at the school.
It has been years since I performed in these WHS ensembles; but I have had the opportunity to teach in many venues including Sioux Falls, Northfield at St. Olaf College, and in Faribault at Shattuck-St. Mary’s School. As a graduate of Worthington High School I am delighted to claim these groups as the foundation to my career in music education.
Thank you, Worthington, for your continued support of music education in your schools.
