JACKSON — Whitney Burmeister became the all-time leading scorer at Jackson County Central on her final two free throws of the night Tuesday. Burmeister now has 1,401 career points, passing her sister Brooke. Whitney finished with 21 points, 15 rebounds, eight assists, seven steals and six blocks to lead JCC’s girls’ basketball team to a 65-43 win over Saint James.
Marita Rasche added a double-double for JCC, scoring 13 points, hauling in 10 rebounds and forcing six steals. Lydia Brandt added 12 points and six boards and Julia Schumann added eight points, seven rebounds and four steals to help lead the Huskies (3-0).
Julia Runge scored 15 points and Katelynn Love scored 11 points to lead Saint James in the team’s season opener.
JCC will play its next game Saturday at Spirit Lake.

Southwest Christian 70, Luverne 53
LUVERNE — Megan DeRuyter had 16 points, while Hannah VanDyke and Amber Patter each pitched in 11 points to lead Southwest Christian in the team’s season opener.
Megan Petersen had 16 points and eight rebounds, Kirsten Olson scored 17 points and Kaitlin Wohnoutka scored nine points and had six steals to lead Luverne (0-1).

ROCK VALLEY, Iowa — Kelsey Ackerman netted 13 points and her twin sister, Lexi, scored 12 points and dished out 10 assists to lead Central Lyon (2-0). Kori Schulte added 10 points for CL.
Kensy Vande Hoef scored 12 points to lead Rock Valley.
Central Lyon will play MOC-Floyd Valley in Rock Rapids Friday.

JEFFERS — Jordan Salhonek scored 18 points and Tiffany Schwanke netted 13 as Springfield opened up the season with a win Tuesday.

ADRIAN — Fulda used a big first half to hold off Adrian in the conference opener. Courtney Hulstein scored 26 points and six rebounds to lead Fulda, while Melissa Gehl chipped in 12 points and five assists and Tiffany Gehl scored 11 points and dished out five assists to lead the Raiders (2-0, 1-0).
Adrian (0-1, 0-1) was led by Rachel Kontz (14 points, five assists) Nichole Loosbrock (14 points), Sydne Springman (nine rebounds) and Austyn Their (nine rebounds).
Adrian hosts Southwest Christian Friday at home and Fulda hosts Edgerton Friday at home.
