WORTHINGTON — The Worthington Squirt B hockey team lost 7-4 to Windom’s Squirt B Yellow team Sunday at the Worthington Arena.

Windom scored three unanswered goals to break open a tie game late the third period.

Worthington, who had lost to this same Windom team 6-2 in its home tournament three weeks ago, started strong in the first period, earning a 2-1 lead after Davis Moore scored two unassisted goals in three minutes.

The Trojans continued the pressure to open the second period, with wing Kipton Jenson converting a pass from center Ryan Newman in the first minute. The Eagles, however, refused to let Worthington’s momentum last and answered with two goals in 21 seconds a few minutes later. The first of these goals was scored by Eli Becker and the second by Matt Stubbe.

Worthington traded goals with Windom with two goals at the five-minute mark. Worthington’s was scored by wing Jack Black off a rebound from a shot by center Bryce Olsen and Windom answered immediately when Matt Stubbe scored his second unassisted goal of the game.

The third period was mostly Windom, with Becker, Vinent Vongsy, and Josiah Quintero scoring unassisted goals for Windom, the last two of which occurred in the final two minutes of the game when the Trojans were pressing to score.

The Worthington Squirts are back in action next weekend, playing Fairmont A atFriday and Fairmont B at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday the 10th at the Martin County ice arena.
