Prep Girls' Basketball Roundup: Adrian wins home Christmas Holiday tournament with win over Wabasso

ADRIAN — At the annual Christmas Holiday tournament last year, Wabasso defeated Adrian in the championship game. This year, it was the other way around as Adrian’s girls’ basketball team took the crown with a 58-47 victory over Wabasso Saturday.
The Dragons (5-2) were led by Austyn Thier’s double-double (18 points, 10 rebounds). Sydne Springman added a double-double as well (15 points, 10 rebounds). Rachel Kontz had 13 points and Nichole Loosbrock added 10 for Adrian.
Wabasso’s Chelsey Gutter had a double-double (18 points, 12 rebounds), and Kimberly Frank added 16 points, six steals and six assists.
Adrian plays George-Little Rock tonight, while Wabasso hosts Renville County West tonight.

Fulda 70, Luverne 36
LUVERNE — Fulda’s Melissa Gehl had a career-high 22 points in the Raiders win over Luverne in girls’ basketball action Saturday.
Courtney Hulstein added 16 points, seven rebounds and eight assists. Tiffany Gehl had 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Rachel Cheadle and Brittney Hermeling each had seven points for the Raiders (5-0).
The Cardinals (2-4) were led by Kirsten Olson’s 19 points. Kaitlin Wohnoutka had eight points.
Luverne plays Hills-Beaver Creek tonight, while Fulda travels to Pipestone Area Tuesday.
