Carol June Langseth, 92, was born on June 13, 1919, in Brewster, MN, the daughter of Louis and Anna (Wehler) Jansen. She was baptized at the Trinity Lutheran Church and sponsored by Lily Wehler and Katherine Wehler. At 6 months of age, she moved with her family to Clontarf, MN, then to Starbuck and Hancock during her childhood, moving back to Brewster in 1934. She was confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hancock in 1933. Carol graduated from Brewster High School in 1936. After graduation, she took a business course and worked in Worthington. Carol married Herbert Langseth on July 12, 1938, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Brewster.
Carol was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Worthington for 60 years. She was a charter member of the Altar Guild, release time teacher, circle member, and a member of LWML. Carol was a 4-H leader when her family was growing up and was a member of the Worthington Garden Club and Grape Growers Association of Minnesota. She loved her garden and family. Carol died on Saturday, December 24, 2011, at the Good Samaritan Society Home in Jackson, MN.
Carol is survived by four sons, James (Eloise) Langseth of Worthington, Gary (Rosemary) Langseth of Worthington, Lynn (Mary) Langseth of Worthington, MN, and Daniel (Pamela) Langseth of Alexandria, MN; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Neises of Florida, and one brother, Vernon Jansen of Round Lake, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, stepmother, two sisters; two brothers, and a grandson.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Worthington, with Pastor Joe Behnke officiating. Burial will be in the Worthington Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2011, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington.
