PREP GIRLS' BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Olson scores 19 points to lead Luverne over SSC

LUVERNE — Kirsten Olson had 19 points and four assists, Megan Petersen had 17 points and five assists and Kaitlin Wohnoutak had 12 points, six steals and five rebounds to lead Luverne’s girls’ basketball team Monday to a 69-42 win over Southwest Star Concept.
Kailey Wendland had 12 points and eight rebounds and Sara Baumgard had 12 points and eight rebounds, while Arianna Hesemann had eight points and 13 rebounds and Sonja Peters had eight points to lead Southwest Star Concept.
Luverne (5-7) will take on Windom at home Friday.

JACKSON — Jackson County Central’s girls’ basketball team fell to Iowa’s second-ranked team in Class AA, Estherville/Lincoln Central, Monday 51-45.
“Estherville/Lincoln Central is one of the best defensive teams you’ll ever play against,” JCC coach Tom Schuller said. “They are averaging in the low 20s in scoring and we are very happy we were able to score 45.”
Whitney Burmeister had 21 points, 14 rebounds, four steals and threee blocks to lead the way for JCC (8-6), while her younger sister, Kaylee, added 11 points, four assists and three steals.
Alyssa Johnson had 11 points and Allie Siefert had 18 points to lead the way for E/LC.
JCC will take on Blue Earth today.

LAKE PARK, Iowa — Bridget Kramer had 15 points, three steals and three assists, Amber Walkowaik had 10 points and three steals and Alexa Huisman had 11 points and three assists to help lead Ellsworth’s girls’ basketball team Monday.
Noreen Morrow had 17 points, while Grace Winter and Mariah Gath each chipped in eight points to lead Harris-Lake Park.
EHS (5-5) will take on Adrian on the road today.

SLAYTON — Jade Giese had 19 points and nine rebounds, Crystal Van Iperen had 16 points and Jenna Ness had eight rebounds and five assists to lead MCC (6-3, 5-1) in girls’ basketball action Monday.
Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin was led by Rachel Dukes (eight points) and Margaret Kispert (six points).
MCC will host Pipestone Thursday.
