LUVERNE — Rock County Sheriff Evan Verbrugge said he is hoping an investigation by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) into the alleged misconduct of a deputy will be concluded by the end of the month.
“(Deputy Kyle Kreun) is on paid administrative leave,” Verbrugge stated.
The BCA is looking into the allegations to avoid any conflict of interest that may have occurred if the investigation had remained internal.
During the investigation, they will also determine whether or not criminal charges may be appropriate.
Kreun was placed on leave Dec. 30 after the department received a tip about alleged misconduct.
He has been a member of the Rock County Sheriff’s Department since 2008, and is the county’s K-9 officer.
Verbrugge said the investigation has left the department short-handed, so he’s hoping the matter is resolved soon.
“I don’t even know all of the facts yet,” he added.
Rock County has nine full-time deputies, Verbrugge, and two part-time deputies . The county is in the process of hiring a third part-time person.
