The service organization of Kiwanis International will be celebrating its 97th birthday on Jan. 21. Please join us in a birthday wish for this organization that “serves the children of the world.”

Kiwanis International was founded in 1915 in Detroit, Mich. In the early years, members focused on business networking. In 1916, Kiwanis became an international organization with the creation of the Kiwanis Club of Hamilton, Ontario. In 1919, the organization changed its focus to service. By 1962, worldwide expansion was approved. In 1987, women officially were allowed into the membership.

Kiwanis International and Unicef have joined forces to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus worldwide with immunization of mothers and babies.

Greet a Kiwanian or a member of the Kiwanis family, Prairie Elementary K-Kids, Worthington Middle School VOKK, or Worthington High School AOK club with a happy birthday wish.
