PREP GIRLS' BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Larsen finishes with 22 points, 12 rebounds and eight blocks to lead RRC to victory

LAMBERTON — Klarissa Larsen led the Red Rock Central Falcons to a 60-46 Red Rock Conference girls’ basketball victory over the Hills-Beaver Creek Patriots during a “Coaches vs. Cancer” boy-girl doubleheader hosted by the Falcons.

LAMBERTON — Klarissa Larsen led the Red Rock Central Falcons to a 60-46 Red Rock Conference girls’ basketball victory over the Hills-Beaver Creek Patriots during a “Coaches vs. Cancer” boy-girl doubleheader hosted by the Falcons.

Larsen finished with 22 points, 12 rebounds and eight blocks, followed by Brooke Rasmussen with 12 points and five assists and Melanie Kedl with 12 points and six steals.

The Patriots received 18 points from Meghan Leuthold and 12 points from Haley Van Wyhe in the loss.

RRC (2-13, 1-8) hosts Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin Tuesday, while H-BC (1-12, 1-8) travels to Central Lyon Monday.

MOUNTAIN LAKE — Megan DeRuyter had 15 points and Amber Pater had 10 points to lead Southwest Christian’s girls’ basketball team in a Red Rock Conference matchup Friday. With the win, the Eagles move to 11-1 overall and 8-1 in the conference.

Janessa Peters had 10 points and Rachel Dukes had eight points to lead Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin (2-13, 1-9).

SWC hosts Russell-Tyler-Ruthton today, while ML/B-O plays Red Rock Central in Jeffers Tuesday.

JCC 67, Luverne 57

LUVERNE — Whitney Burmeister led the Jackson County Central Huskies to a Southwest Conference win over the Luverne Cardinals with a double-double of 26 points and 10 rebounds, while also gathering five steals and blocking four shots.

JCC (11-7, 5-3) also had Marita Rasche (five rebounds) with 14 points and Kaylee Burmeister (four assists) with 13 points, while Angela Handzus led the team with eight assists.

Luverne (6-10, 3-4) was led by Kirsten Olson (five 3-pointers) and Kaitlin Wohnoutka (three 3s) with each scoring 17 points. Olson also collected six rebounds.

Both teams travel for SWC games Tuesday with the Huskies going to Marshall, while the Cardinals are at Pipestone Area.

SIOUX CENTER, IOWA — Central Lyon imrpoved to 13-2 overall on the season behind 11 points from Abby Faletti, 10 rebounds from Jennifer Johnson and six assists from Lexi Ackerman in a girls’ basketball win over Sioux Center Friday.

CL plays Hills-Beaver Creek Monday in Rock Rapids.
