Letter: Reform 2.0 is 'people's agenda'

You spoke, and the Legislature listened.

After holding meetings across the state in order to hear from residents as to how they wanted to improve state government, the Legislature has unveiled its Reform 2.0 agenda for the 2012 session.

Once the dust settled from the 2011 session, lawmakers wanted to analyze the areas that were served well in state government as well as the areas that were underserved. We wanted to address the areas of the underserved and asked for the public’s help by bringing their ideas forward during our statewide listening sessions. Now that the 2012 session has begun, those bills have been drafted and are ready to go.

There are more than 100 bills that will be introduced based on ideas and concerns that were expressed by constituents at the listening sessions.

This isn’t just my agenda or the Legislature’s agenda; it’s the people’s agenda. There’s no doubt we need to improve the way government operates, and make it more efficient for the people who depend on it the most.
