Geraldine Catherine Klute Jamieson was born April 28, 1918 to John and Ida (Schoo) Henning on the family farm in Nobles County, near Iona, Minnesota. She was baptized into the Catholic faith at Our Lady of Good Counsel in Wilmont, and later confirmed there. Gerri grew up on the family farm and received her education attending country school near Reading, and was a graduate of St Gabriel's High School in Fulda.
On February 23, 1942, she and Raymond Klute were married at the Catholic parsonage in Wilmont. Following their marriage, they made their home in Worthington, where they raised their two children. During this time Gerri was the manager of A & P Grocery for 5 years, a waitress at Ehler's Steak House for 6 years, and was then employed by Centel Telephone Company for 24 years until retirement.
Her husband Raymond died in 1967. On September 12, 1970, Gerri married George Jamieson at St Mary's Catholic Church in Worthington. They lived in Worthington for 10 years before moving to Mesa, Arizona in 1980. George died in 1997, and Gerri continued to make her home in Arizona.
Spending time with family was always of prime importance to Gerri. Other favorite leisure activities included bowling, ceramics, dancing, playing bridge, cooking and baking. She served as activity director at Show-Low, AZ, and helped organize and prepare catered meals for various social functions, served as a monitor at ceramic classes, and was vice president of the bowling league.
Gerri died on Monday, January 30, 2012, at the Faribault Care Center in Faribault, MN.
Grateful for having shared her life include her son Dennis Klute and wife Alma of Milford, Iowa and her daughter Diane Zellmer and husband Doug of Lakeville, MN; 4 grandchildren, Scott (Jean) Roberts, Brian Klute, Jon (Kim) Roberts, and Jennifer Klute; 6 great-grandchildren, 4 sisters, Cleo Taylor, Leona Ausham, Wilda Myers, and Inez Coulter, 2 brothers, Jack Henning and William Henning, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her first husband, Raymond, her second husband, George, 3 brothers, and 4 sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2012, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Worthington, MN, with Father Jim Callahan officiating. Geraldine’s family will serve as casket bearers. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 3, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington.
