WHS GYMNASTICS: Huskies hand Trojans first conference loss

JACKSON — Worthington’s girl’s gymnastics team suffered its first conference loss, falling to Jackson County Central 140.30-135.50 Tuesday.
With the loss, the Trojans drop to 6-3 overall and 4-1 in conference.
“Jackson is a very good team,” WHS coach Joni Reitmeier said. “We didn’t perform our best, but we performed well.
“When you go against Jackson, you have to be at your best.”
Sydney Donnelli led the way for Jackson, winning the all-around with a 36.90 behind a tie for first on vault (9.425), first-place finishes on the balance beam (9.175) and the floor (9.375) and a second-place finish on bars (8.925). Brandi Sether-Hassing came in second in the all-around (36.075) behind a first-place finish on bars (9.20), a second-place finish on vault (9.275) and a third-place finish on floor (8.90). Morgan Halverson finished third on vault (8.90) as well for JCC.
For Worthington, Tara Svalland finished third in the all-around (35.475) behind a tie for first on vault (9.425), a second-place finish on beam (9.025) and a third-place finish on bars (8.475). Paige Kinley finished third on the beam (8.825) and second on floor (8.925) as well for the Trojans.
In JV action, JCC defeated WHS 128-116.95.
Bailey Schneekloth led the way, finishing first in the all-around with a 32.25, behind a first-place finish on the balance beam (8.35), a second-place finish on vault (8.80) and third-place finish on floor (8.30).
Makenna Donnelli finished second in the all-around (31.05) behind a second-place finish on bars (7.40). Jaiden Bedicak finished third in the all-around (30.10) behind a tie for third place on vault (8.70). Jessica Voehl finished first on bars (7.80) and floor (8.65) for JCC, while Mady Vancura finished first on vault (8.85) and second on beam (7.75), Sydney Nyborg finished in a tie for third on vault (8.70) and second on floor (8.35) and Riley Schneekloth finished third on bars (7.0) to round out the place-winners for the Huskies.
Tori Svalland finished in third on beam (7.50) for the Trojans.
Worthington will have its final varsity meet at home versus Pipestone Area Friday.
