PREP BOYS' BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Appel scores 28 to lead Fulda over R-T-R

MARSHALL — It took overtime, but Fulda was able to overcome Russell-Tyler-Ruthton in a 63-62 win at Southwest Minnesota State University Saturday in boys’ basketball action.

MARSHALL — It took overtime, but Fulda was able to overcome Russell-Tyler-Ruthton in a 63-62 win at Southwest Minnesota State University Saturday in boys’ basketball action.

Matt Appel had 28 points, seven rebounds and hit five 3-pointers to lead Fulda (16-5). Mic Holinka had 19 points, five rebounds and four assists and Aaron Tiesler had four points, nine rebounds and four assists to help pace the Raiders.

R-T-R (15-7) was led by Brett Peterson (28 points), Brett Vercruysse (11 points) and Dylan Kor (10 points).

Fulda will play at Adrian Tuesday and R-T-R will be at Renville County West Friday.

SLAYTON — Chris Halbur had 25 points and 15 rebounds, Nate Wieneke had 13 points and nine assists, Trent Carlson had 17 points and Sam Beech scored 11 points to lead Murray County Central’s boys’ basketball team Saturday.

Jacob Derby had 18 points, Boyer Bouman had 12 points and Brady Claussen had 11 points to lead Pipestone Area (2-17).

MCC (11-7) will travel to Red Rock Central Tuesday and PA will travel to Madison Friday.
