PREP GIRLS' HOCKEY: Dingmann nets winner to send Cards to section championship

LUVERNE — Madisyn Dingmann netted the game-winning goal with 7:46 left in the third period off an assist from Katie Eeten to give the Luverne Cardinals a 4-3 victory over the Marshall Tigers in the semifinals of the Section 3A girls’ hockey playoffs Tuesday night.

LUVERNE — Madisyn Dingmann netted the game-winning goal with 7:46 left in the third period off an assist from Katie Eeten to give the Luverne Cardinals a 4-3 victory over the Marshall Tigers in the semifinals of the Section 3A girls’ hockey playoffs Tuesday night.

Lauren Christensen scored two first-period goals to give LHS a 2-1 lead in the first period with an assist to Makayla Sterrett on the first goal and Dingmann on the second goal.

Sterrett added a power-play goal in the second period for the Cardinals with Christensen picking up the assist.

The Tigers’ goals were scored by Morgan Larsen, Mikenna Radke and Miranda Fischer.

Kennedy Gonnerman had eight saves in net for LHS (12-9-1), while Sierra Wagner had 29 saves for MHS (10-12-1).

The Cardinals play New Ulm Thursday night in Redwood Falls for the section championship.
