PREP WRESTLING: W/RRC rolls to section semis

LAMBERTON — The Wabasso/Red Rock Central Bobcats wrestling team routed Renville County West/MACCRAY 64-6 to advance to the semifinals of the Section 3A tournament Thursday night.

Spencer Jenniges won a decision at 113-pounds to give the Bobcats a 4-3 lead after two weight classes.

Seven of the next eight matches resulted in pinfall victories for W/RRC.

Caleb Kemp and Brandon Goblirsch earned pins at 120 and 126, respectively, followed by pin for Derek Christians at 132, a fall for Tanner Rohlik at 138 and another six points at 145 with a pin by Mitchell Schroepfer.

Following a 10-3 decision win for Ben Matter at 152, Mitchell Rohlik and Blake Altermatt secured respective pinfalls for the Bobacts at 160 and 170.

W/RRC rounded out its scoring with Nathan Mattison winning a 4-3 decision at 182, Shane Irlbeck winning by forfeit at 195 and Cody Welch earning a pin at 220.

The second-seeded Bobcats take on the third seed, Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg, at 1:00 p.m. Saturday in Granite Falls.
