PREP GIRLS' HOCKEY: LHS falls 8-2 in section championship

REDWOOD FALLS — The Luverne girls’ hockey team had its season come to an end Thursday night in an 8-2 loss to New Ulm in the Section 3A championship game.

REDWOOD FALLS — The Luverne girls’ hockey team had its season come to an end Thursday night in an 8-2 loss to New Ulm in the Section 3A championship game.

Brooke Schugel netted a hat trick to lead the Eagles (13-13) in the win.

Makayla Sterrett netted a second-period goal for Luverne’s first goal with assists to Madisyn Dingmann and Lauren Christensen, while Christensen added an unassisted goal in the third period.

Kennedy Gonnerman and Jessica Calvin both saw time in net for the Cardinals and combined to make 24 saves.

Luverne ends its campaign with a record of 12-10-1.
