Letter: Candidate pledges to work for all constituents

As a candidate for office, I was excited for the new Minnesota Legislative District map to come out. That sense of excitement was not disappointed when the map finally came out on Tuesday.

As you may know, I am a candidate for the DFL endorsement for State Representative in District 22B. That being said, while I am a DFLer if elected I intend to represent ALL of the constituents of 22B, not just the Democrats. I think it is high time for those in office to pay attention to the needs of the district and not the bidding of the party leadership.

I am indeed a young candidate, aged 21, but I feel that it is time for us young people to step up and be involved in the government and politics. People are sick and tired of the same old politics as usual. With my candidacy, I promise you politics as usual does not fly with me. The people of 22B deserve to have their voice heard in the State Capitol, and I believe I am the person to do just that.

I am not afraid to take on party leadership or other influences to get what this district needs done. Legislators need to remember that it’s the constituents who put them in office, not special interest groups or their party leadership.

I look forward to getting out and visiting with you folks to discuss what we need here in 22B and how we are going to get there.
