PREP GIRLS' BASKETBALL: ML/B-O moves on in Section 2A bball tourney

MOUNTAIN LAKE — Janessa Peters had 19 points and Paige Brown had 14 points, as Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin knocked off Truman 52-31 in the first round of the Section 2A girls’ basketball tournament Thursday.

Beth McDonald had 11 points and Madison Wiedherhoeft had nine points to lead Truman.

ML/B-O (5-22) will take on top-seeded Saint Clair at Saint Clair Tuesday.

WESTBROOK — Russell-Tyler-Ruthton girls’ basketball team has a date with Fulda Saturday in Worthington in the Section 3A girls’ basketball tournament after knocking off Westbrook-Walnut Grove Thursday.

Leslie Willert had 15 points, Allison Pochardt had 10 points and Kaylie Nielsen had 12 points to lead R-T-R (7-17).

Paige Erickson had 16 points and 17 rebounds, Anne Woelber had 10 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals and Liz Woelber had 10 points and three steals to lead W-WG (12-11).

JEFFERS — Brooke Rasmussen had 13 points and nine steals, Klarissa Larsen had 27 points and eight rebounds, Katie Larsen had eight assists and five rebounds and Melanie Kedl had 10 rebounds and five steals to lead Red Rock Central’s girls’ basketball team in the first round of the Section 2A girls’ basketball tournament.

Madelia (0-24) was led by Cinthia Sotelo (11 points).

RRC (7-18) will take on No. 2 seed Springfield Tuesday at Springfield.
