Letter: Time in Worthington going by rapidly

I’m already here for seven months, and I can’t believe how fast the time flies!

Dear Worthington,

I’m already here for seven months, and I can’t believe how fast the time flies! I still remember exactly how I left the airport in Minneapolis, and how I had no idea about anything. I didn’t really understand when people were talking to me, and I had no idea how the high school was going to be. And now, only a little bit later, I feel like an American student in the high school, like I’ve been going to this school my whole life. So much has changed in only this short time.

My second host family was the Weterings, and I had a lot of fun living with Betsy, Bill, Alex, Lizzy, Dan and Laura! I knew Laura from tennis season. It was easy to get used to living with them and we did so many fun things, like going to the musical “Les Miserables“ in Minneapolis. Christmas was also so great for me! I totally loved to see all the things you do differently here.

For a winter sport I did swim team, and I had so much fun! I’ve never been on a swim team in Germany before, so it was totally new for me. I was so happy when I made it to State, so on Feb. 11 I was able to go to Minneapolis with the Janssens. I got to go to the Mall of America, and I think they should build something like that in Germany! For me it is the best place ever. I loved it so much.

I also went to Chicago with the Trojan Marching Band. I’ve never been in such a big city before, and I absolutely loved it. We ate Chicago Pizza, went to the Field Museum and went to the very top of the Hancock Tower. We had an awesome view over the whole city. Then, the band marched in the McDonald’s Thanksgiving Parade. At the very end of the trip, we went on a dinner cruise. That was so great. We ate a lot of good food, and there was a dance on the boat.

I also experienced my first late start in school, and since we don’t have that in Germany it was something completely new and exciting for me.

Now I’m living with Jorge, Julie, Ari and Ben Lopez. I just moved, but I’m already having so much fun there. They made it really easy for me to settle down, and I have a beautiful room. I’m having so much fun hanging out with Ari. I know her from school, and it is funny how she was one of the first people I met here in America.

I found so many friends here, and I love going to basketball games, hockey games or the movies with them. I already know that it’s gonna be so hard to leave Worthington. I can’t imagine that the third quarter of the school year is nearly done!

My time here is priceless, and I am so happy I’m here! Thank you to all the people that make my year awesome. I couldn’t imagine anything better. Thank you.

Many greetings.
