WORTHINGTON — Chris and Amy Paplow, of Dundee, were expecting a baby, but not one with a birthday that only rolls around every four years.
Halle Paplow was born 7:57 a.m. Wednesday — Leap Day— at Sanford Worthington Medical Center, weighing 7 pounds and 8 ounces.
“We were due on the 4th (March),” said the now father of four, Chris.
The Paplows had to brave the rain and thunder early Wednesday morning when baby Halle decided to make an early appearance.
“We weren’t expecting this,” Amy said.
Given the surprise, they had not thought about how they will celebrate Halle’s birthday in the future
“We’ll probably celebrate every year on the 28th and really throw a big bash every four years,” Amy said.
Halle is the first in the family to be born on a leap year.
“The only other person I knew was a friend I graduated high school with,” said Amy, a Lamberton native.
The Paplows have three other children, Jenna, Blake and Sophie.
