Letter: Change in county administrator is needed

This is in response to Emily Cenzano’s comments in the March 8 edition of the Daily Globe regarding Nobles County Administrator Mel Ruppert. His treatment of some present and former county employees can be described as overbearing and ruthless, as someone who will not face the fact that a “master and slave” attitude does not equal acceptable administrative practice in our American democracy.
One would wonder why the county board — our elected officials — has not seen through this oppressive administration style. Could it be that the board has been skillfully manipulated and bullied to the extent that it is blind to the dictates of the administrator? It seems various county employees have met the same fate as Ms. Cenzano. Can the board not see that an enlightened, fair-minded individual is urgently needed to guide our county and restore employee confidence in it, in order to build a positive image for Nobles County?
