Leann Jean Petersen, 56, was born on October 4, 1955, in Sioux Falls, SD, the daughter of Jack and Norma (Strong) Petersen.
Leann Jean Petersen, 56, was born on October 4, 1955, in Sioux Falls, SD, the daughter of Jack and Norma (Strong) Petersen. She grew up in Bridgewater, SD and then moved with her family to Worthington, MN, where she graduated from high school. Leann married Mike Fisher on July 7, 1973, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Worthington. She worked at Intervet in Worthington for seventeen years. Leann enjoyed gardening, racing, bowling, and decorating. She loved having her family around and entertaining for the holidays. Leann died on Saturday, March 17, 2012, at her residence in Brewster, MN.
Leann is survived by her children, Nicole (Greg) Kempema of Worthington, MN, Jerad (Devin) Fisher of Brewster, MN, and Jason (Nicole) Fisher of Lakefield, MN; grandchildren, Zach, Brandon, and Chandler Kempema; Skylar, Brooklyn, and Taylor Fisher, and Addison, Ava, Jaxon, Hudson, and Henley Fisher; sisters, Meridel (Wendell) Folkerts of Albia, IA, Karen Mohrman of Casper, WY, and Janice Toopes of Ottumwa, IA, and brothers, Michael (Annette) Petersen of Cedar Rapids, IA, Terry (Connie) Petersen of Worthington, MN, Jackie (Lori) Petersen of Worthington, MN, and Reed Petersen of Casper, WY. She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Petersen; granddaughter, Paige Fisher; nephew, Michael Petersen, uncle, Duane Minnick, and grandparents, Jack and Ruth Petersen and Emma Sammons.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 23, 2012, at 10:30 a.m., at the Indian Lake Baptist Church near Worthington, MN, with Pastor Doug Roth officiating. Casket bearers will be Zach Kempema, Tim Folkerts, Todde Folkerts, Troy Folkerts, Jack Petersen, Jeff Schubert, Jim Petersen, Shad Petersen, Al Drost, and Gary Bannister. Leann’s grandkids will serve as honorary bearers. Burial will be in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Slayton, MN.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2012, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington.
