PREP BASKETBALL: Local athletes make all-tournament team

MINNEAPOLIS — Five local athletes were voted onto the Class A state boys’ all-tournament team.

Southwest Christian had three representatives in Andrew Top, Klint Knutson and Zach Huisken. Top, Knutson and Huisken helped lead Southwest Christian to the state championship game in Class A where the Eagles fell to Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa 54-45.

Mountain-Lake/Butterfield-Odin was represented by Carter Kirk and Beau Herrig. Kirk and Herrig led ML/B-O to a fourth-place finish in the team’s first trip to state since being paired together in 1988.

The other five selections were Nick Thompson and Trent Vix of Rushford-Peterson, and Connor and Brian Goodwin and Kirby Montbriand of Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa.

The all-tournament team is voted on by the media attending the tournament.
