MINNEOTA — The Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove baseball team won its season opener in a 5-3 decision over Minneota on Monday.
The Falcons’ Colby Davis made his first career varsity start, tossing four innings and recording four strikeouts, three walks, while giving up one run on two hits.
Bryan Bierl was granted the save as he pitched three innings and had two strikeouts, one hit and three walks for RRC/W-WG.
Jacob Comnick went 2-for-3 with an RBI, Dylan Bunting went 2-for-3 with an RBI and catcher Daniel Maras threw out two of three players attempting to steal.
RRC/W-WG improved to 1-0 on the season. The Falcons’ next game is today at home against Springfield.
