PREP SOFTBALL: Olson strikes out eight to lead the Cardinals over SWU 10-0

LUVERNE – The Luverne softball team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 10-0 win in five innings over Southwestern United.

LUVERNE – The Luverne softball team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 10-0 win in five innings over Southwestern United.

Ashley Olson pitched for the Cardinals, walking no batters and striking out eight. Ida Rogers-Ferguson got the loss for the Wildcats, walking seven batters and striking out four.

Olson went 3-for-4 with one run scored and an RBI; Tara Sudenga went 1-for-3 with two runs scored, and RBI and a double; Macy Edwards went 1-for-1 with two runs scored, an RBI and a double; Erica DeBoer went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, 4 RBIs, a double and a triple and Ariel Reker went 1-for-3 with a run scored, two RBIs and a double to lead the Cardinals.

Luverne’s next game is Monday against Edgerton/Southwest Christian.

SWU (0-1) plays Tuesday against Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove.
