LUVERNE — The Luverne boys’ tennis team improved to 4-0 on the season with a 7-0 win over Vermillion (S.D.) Tuesday night.
Joey Vajgrt defeated David Day 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. Dustin Deutsch defeated James May 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Jonny Vajgrt defeated Nathan Samudzi 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. And Andrew Jelken defeated Mark Helernurm 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles.
Scott Nelson and Blake Ziegler defeated Nathan Svendsen and Will Card 6-4, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles. Ethan Johnson and Nathan Stensland-Bos defeated Jacob For and Kevin Helernurm 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles. And Matt Arends and Austin Stroeh defeated Joe Swanson and Andrew Callahan 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 doubles.
“Our experience really showed in today’s matches,” Luverne coach Greg Antoine said. “All the kids played really well today. Even though a few shots were altered by the wind, we didn’t let that bother us much.”
Luverne’s next match is on April 12 against Montevideo.
