PREP BASEBALL ROUNDUP: Christopher leads Jackson County Central by Windom

WINDOM – The Jackson County Central baseball team defeated Windom 8-1 Monday.

WINDOM – The Jackson County Central baseball team defeated Windom 8-1 Monday.

Taylor Christopher got the win for JCC, tossing six innings and recording one run on seven hits as well as one walk and one strikeout. Brett Larson pitched the seventh inning for the Huskies.

Sal Caballero pitched for Windom. He tossed four innings and gave up two runs and had two strikeouts and a walk. However, Collin Lovell received the loss on the game.

Tanner Menke went 2-for-4 with four RBIs, three runs, an inside-the-park homerun and a double. Dustin Pronk was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a triple. Larson was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a double.

For Windom, Danny Kneeland was 2-for-2, Tim Larson was 2-for-4 and Lovell was 2-for-4.

JCC’s (2-0) next game is Thursday against Worthington. Windom’s (0-2) next game is a doubleheader against Worthington on Friday.

Pipestone Area 11, Canby 5

CANBY – The Pipestone Area baseball team opened its season with a win over Canby Monday.

Austin Evans picked up the win for the Arrows, tossing four innings and recording eight strikeouts. He was also 2-for-4 at the plate.

Josh Mabon was 1-for-2 with a two-RBI double in the second inning. Eric Buffington had two hits for the Arrows Monday.

Pipestone (1-0) plays again today against Luverne.

St. James 2

LAMBERTON – Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove defeated St. James in a baseball game Monday afternoon.

Brady Bierl was the winning pitcher for the Falcons, tossing a complete game while recording nine strikeouts, two walks, one earned run and four hits.

Taylor Vollmer went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Daniel Maras was 2-for-4 with an RBI triple and Andrew Merrick was 2-for-4 on the day for RRC/W-WG.

The Falcons’ improved to 3-1 on the year. Their next game is today against Southwestern United.

TYLER – The Edgerton/Southwest Christian baseball team lost its season opener against Russell-Tyler-Ruthon Monday.

Dominic Nibbelink was 2-for-4 with a run, Damon Vander Maten had a run and Blake Jouwstra was 2-for-3 for the Flying Dutchmen.

Devin Jouwstra pitched for E/SWC, tossing five innings, giving up seven runs on eight hits, striking out three and walking three.

E/SWC’s next game is today against Mountain Lake/Buttefield-Odin.
