PREP SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: Dragons pick up first win of the season with 13-9 victory over Rebels

SLAYTON – The Adrian softball team picked up its first win of the season with a 13-9 victory over Murray County Central Tuesday.

SLAYTON – The Adrian softball team picked up its first win of the season with a 13-9 victory over Murray County Central Tuesday.

Rachel Kontz pitched a complete game for the Dragons (1-3). She gave up nine runs —seven earned — on 12 hits and had four strikeouts.

Ashley Clarke pitched for the Rebels, striking out 10 and walking 11. She also hit three batters.

At the plate, Jessi Meyer led the Dragons, going 2-for-4.

For the Rebels, Makenzie Giese was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer, Michaela Hartle was 2-for-3 with a home run and Kenda Blomgren was 2-for-4 with a triple.

MCC (0-1) plays Red Rock Central on Thursday, while Adrian plays Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin on Thursday.

JACKSON – In the first game of a doubleheader, the Jackson County Central softball team fell to Redwood Valley Tuesday.

Brooke Klontz started the game for the Huskies, striking out five and walking five. Moira Carlson was the reliever, striking out one and walking four.

At the plate, Klontz was 3-for-5 with two RBIs, Jasmine Erickson was 2-for-5 with an RBI, Lydia Brandt was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Breanne Reetz was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

In the second game of the doubleheader, JCC lost to RV 9-7.

Adriane Rentschler tossed a complete game, walking nine and striking out no batters.

Klontz was 4-for-5 at the plate with three RBIs and two runs scored, Marita Rasche was 2-for-5 with two doubles and Erickson was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

JCC’s next game is Monday against Blue Earth Area.

The Huskies are now 1-2 on the season.

BREWSTER – The Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove softball team defeated Southwestern United Tuesday.

Taylor Wilhite pitched for the Falcons (1-2), picking up the win.

At the plate, Klarissa Larsen was 2-for-2 with two home runs and four RBIs, Katie Dusek was 4-for-6, Katie Halter was 4-for-4 and Katie Larsen was 3-for-4.

For the Wildcats (0-2), Ida Rogers-Ferguson had one hit, Sonja Peters had a triple, Connor DeWall had a hit and Maddie Rasche had a hit.

SWU’s next game is Thursday against Edgerton/Southwest Christian, while RRC/W-WG takes on MCC Thursday.

MOUNTAIN LAKE – The Edgerton/Southwest Christian softball team improved to 3-0 on the season with a win over Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin Tuesday.

Breana Van Dyke pitched five innings for the Flying Dutchmen, striking out six and walking four.

At the plate, E/SWC was led by Jessica Menning, who went 3-for-4 with a grand slam, a double, five RBIs and three runs scored. Van Dyke was 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI, while Amanda Schaap was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI. Every starter had at least one hit for E/SWC.

ML/B-O (1-3) was led by Brianna Wenner, who had the Wolverines’ only hit.

E/SWC plays Southwestern United on Thursday and ML/B-O plays Adrian on Thursday.
